# Your companion

> Customize your dazie companion's personality, tone and focus so conversations feel right for you.

Your companion is the voice you talk to. You shape it with a short description in plain language.

## Describe your companion

In **Settings → Companion**, write one or two sentences about how you want it to be. Examples:

* *"Supportive, curious, helps me explore creative projects."*
* *"Direct. Push back when I make excuses."*
* *"Calm and slow. I journal before bed."*

dazie uses this description to set tone, pacing and how hard it pushes on follow-up questions.

## Name and voice

You can give your companion a name and choose from a small set of voices. Changing either doesn't affect your journal or memory.

## Focus areas

Optionally add focus areas, such as *work*, *health*, *a creative project* or *a relationship*. dazie will steer toward them when the conversation has no clear direction.

## Changing your mind

Edits apply from your next conversation. Past entries stay as they were.
